How Mentorship Works

Certification vs. Mentorship

Linguamia does not offer certification. Instead, it provides mentorship to guide prospective court interpreters through the process of becoming certified.

Location & Jurisdiction

Linguamia is based in Florida. Mentees from other states must identify the regulatory entity for court interpreting in their own state and follow its schedule of events and fees.

Cost-Free Support

Mentorship is completely free. There is no need to purchase materials to receive guidance.

Scope of Mentorship

Linguamia primarily supports aspiring court interpreters at the beginning of their certification journey. Guidance continues throughout the process until certification is achieved. Preparation for the oral exam is not included, as other professionals specialize in that area and offer dedicated resources.

Upcoming Textbook

Linguamia uses its textbook For Aspiring Court Interpreters, a comprehensive book designed to equip aspiring court interpreters with the foundational knowledge needed to begin the process and pass the written exam.

Registration for the Orientation Workshop First

Mentees are required to register for the Orientation Workshop before they can receive mentorship. 

U.S.-Based Mentorship

Mentorship is offered only within the United States, as justice systems vary by country. However, students from other countries who plan to live and work in the U.S. are welcome to reach out.

Flexible Format

Mentorship is one-on-one and conducted in writing. This format accommodates diverse schedules and locations, whether you're in Florida or across the globe.

Available Resources

Linguamia provides practice exams for the written test and vocabulary-building exercises to strengthen specific skills. More resources are in development.
